• It is said that the choices we make in life define who we are. Whether we are choosing and contemplating between having coffee or tea or making life-changing decisions, our choices could be the mast that flies high on the ship. How we steer clear and find the right tools to guide ourselves on the road of life is what we must understand. The question we need to ask ourselves is how much do we expect from the life that is been bestowed upon us. If we have learnt to compromise on every walk of life then we have made very little and mediocre choices in life. If we are the sort who get up and want to fight our way through the thickets of life then we make tough choices to sustain ourselves. But then there lies the third element as well. Those people who look at life in the eye and dare to become a visionary, choices simply fall at their feet like fallen leaves.

A cloudy day demands that you carry your raincoat and umbrella lest it may rain, a trek planned with your mates calls for a checklist which you cannot miss, a lot of planning and counselling goes into taking up a professional course, what next? is the biggest hurdle that cannot go amiss. From treating a common cold to doing the right kind of savings for your loved ones, we are all bogged down by choices, choices and choices. It is strange that the more choices we have about the right kind of shampoo best suited for our hair type, we are more confused and compelled to pick up the shampoo which is either a brand or which is fitting your budget.
So how do we make the right choice? When making a choice, one must be aware of how their choices and how it will affect the future ramifications of their lives. Of course, there are some choices that are easy to make, while others are rather nerve-racking. For instance, an inconsequential choice is easy, but other choices which could change your life and those around you are the ones which you should look out for and tread carefully.

Here is a list of criteria put together that can be used while making a choice:
It is more important to know what you value the most, it may not hold much value to others but certainly, it may affect you so know what you value the most.
Don’t lose focus on your future. While making a choice regarding your future make sure to have farsightedness and not make choices on life as it appears right now instead of looking to the future. Ask yourself if the choices you have made its ramifications stay within the goals that you have set for yourself for the future?
Have you looked at all the recourses and mediated different scenarios? Different scenarios sometimes might result in a different outcome.
Are we forgetting to use our “intuition” for our choice instead of your head?
We often find ourselves in situations that the more we know about ourselves and our place in the world, the easier the choice. We should always go with a choice that is the best for our “highest good.” In saying so, you are reiterating that the only right answer would be the one your “highest good” will tell you. Before making any major choice in life, gift yourself with time to sit and contemplate. Then bring yourself into a state of silence and where you are one with your body and mind. It is in these silent moments that one communicates with their soul’s needs, understandings and choices which will be in alignment to your highest good.

  • You cannot find the confidence to decide when you have very little information about what you are getting yourself in Therefore these 5 W’s: what, who, when, where, and why definitely help you in manoeuvring yourself forward. What is the situation? Who are the people involved? When did this happen? Where is this leading? Why are you in this situation? These are just some of the possible questions to ask to know more about your situation. This is important. Oftentimes, the reason for being indecisive could be the lack of information about a situation.
